I WAIT
Ever have a dream in which you could not wake from?
(Reprinted in Flashshot Year One Anthology)

Today I disappeared I had been sitting beside a roaring fire contemplating the phrase

"Do unto others. . ."

What happened next I do not know.

I must have dozed.

I awoke here.

Where is here?  I do not know.  I see nothing, as the room I am in has no windows.  I cannot make out a door.  The room is bare - four walls, a floor, a ceiling - nothing more.

I cannot hear a sound.  Am I deaf?  The silence is thunderous in its oppression.
My nose smells nothing.  It is as if everything here is sterile.

I look down at my body and it is naked.  My fingers touch, but all is smooth and flat, even the sensory perception of feel is denied to me.  Only my feet feel the solid hardness of the floor.

An illusion.

I should panic, yet I do not.  I feel safe and secure in this place, all the while knowing deep inside I am not.

I wait.
